Welcome to the website of Wiscasset Maine Coons.

We are Linda and David Swinburn from Bury in Lancashire.

Although we only started breeding in 2006 we have owned and shown Maine Coons since 2000. Our first being a silver tabby and white pet name Thomas, who very quickly became a Premier.

By this time we really enjoyed showing and meeting other people with the same hobby, and over the years we have made many friends. Our second Maine Coon was Rupert, a red tabby and white. He too was made up to Premier quite quickly, and we still show him from time to time.

The saying is that you never stop at one Maine Coon, and in our case we didn’t stop at two. We wanted another boy for showing, and the opportunity came to get a brown tabby and white – Merlin. However, Merlin doesn’t like to be shown, which is unfortunate as he is a very big boy.

At this stage we thought we would like to start breeding and we were offered Angelina from Norrie Crook of Beardwood Maine Coons.

We had our first litter in February 2006 and enjoyed the experience of watching kittens being born, and the joy of seeing them running around the house; although it is quite heartbreaking parting with them. We kept one of Angelina’s daughters, a red solid for breeding.

All our cats and kittens live in the house with us, are handled and played with, with a view to making sociable adults. Our cats don’t go out freely, although we have an outside run where they can go and get fresh air, and watch the birds and occasional squirrel and other wildlife that visits our garden.

All our kittens leave home at 13 weeks, come fully vaccinated, their parents are HCM negative, and all are registered with the GCCF. Six weeks free Petplan insurance is provided, as well as a bag of cat food samples, menu sheet, and toys.

We welcome new owners to keep in touch and send us photos of the kittens from time to time.
